Roommate Finder App Roomi Pairs With Lemonade To Offer Insurance
By Natalie Daher
The roommate finder app Roomi will now make it easier for renters to get insured.
Roomi, which connects renters with potential housing options online, announced its partnership with renters insurance startup Lemonade on April 20. For Roomi users, who book a room through the app and then coordinate details with tenants and landlords, insurance is just another option during the housing search process.
The users of each service are mostly young adults, who may be interested in a quicker option for buying renters insurance. In a release, Roomi CEO Ajay Yadav noted studies that show more millennials are investing in electronics, hobbies and clothing than previous generations.
“Lemonade’s ability to make renter’s insurance so simple is exactly what the Roomi user is looking for. We are thrilled to collaborate with such an innovative company,” Yadav said. “...Since Roomi is dedicated to making renting safer, it was a natural decision to offer our users, who are mostly millennials, an easy solution to protect their belongings.”
While Roomi is a few years old, Lemonade is younger and already attracting multimillion-dollar investments. The matchup could increase Lemonade's visibility and appeal among young consumers.
